National-Level Recognition: AIML Project Showcased at PROTECH 2026
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at RIT Polytechnic, Pune, is proud to announce the successful participation of our students in PROTECH 2026. This prestigious National-Level Project Competition was organized by the Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune, and technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Maharashtra Section.
On 28th March 2026, our team represented the department on this elite platform, presenting a project that stands at the intersection of advanced computation and social welfare: “AI-Based Smart Crossing Assistant for Visually Impaired Individuals.”
Project Spotlight: AI for Inclusive Mobility
The project addresses a critical gap in urban infrastructure by using Artificial Intelligence to provide real-time pedestrian assistance. By leveraging computer vision and intelligent sensors, the system aims to:
Enhance Road Safety: Identifying traffic signals, vehicle movement, and safe crossing zones.
Foster Independence: Empowering visually impaired individuals to navigate complex intersections with greater confidence.
Smart Assistance: Delivering intuitive, real-time feedback to the user during the crossing process.

Participating in an IEEE-sponsored event provided our students with high-level professional exposure, including:
